Thing #48

So downloading music for free legally. Great stuff if you can find what you want. I'm likin' it. Found some downloadable Chili Peppers, which is always a great thing. Easy to use, but really you'd need to be reasonably computer literate. But I doubt you'd be downloading music if you weren't already.

Thing 47

Jamstation. I'm not a musician. Kinda fun. Don't see that I'll use it much though.

Life is Just Merrier...When You Own a Terrier

Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of Border Terrorists? Fitzroy knows.......
Dogs show up again at the Festival of the Arts in Ytown. Grab your children and your wives! It's Ch. Sirius Virtue Mine Honour.....and he's coming to a town near you..... EEEEEKKK! With his bizarrely large head and tiny body and feet, as captured on film, you'll pose no threat to him as he consumes you whole on his rampage across America........

Catching Up Thing #46

So I have gotten behind on my Things and must get back in the swing of, well, things. This #46 feels like a bit of a cop out, checking out the originally visited websites, but whatever I guess I don't mind doing other peoples work. Blogger, well, it's still Blogger. Good thing is it's still there, they do now have a mobile service available, but that may have been there when I started, but I wouldn't need to use it so I might just have never noticed. Flickr. What can you say. Still Flickr. They now have "Groups" available for all assorted and sundry styles of freaks to get together online and share their pictures of their similar interests. Like apparently the freakomaniac in charge of their blog who likes dressing up her Chihuahua in Star Wars costumes. I mean really, a Border Terrorist in a Bee Suit at Halloween is one thing, but a Chihuahua as Obi-Wan on an average day is about one fry short of a Happy Meal, no? Bloglines, still lookin' pretty much the same, not that that is a bad thing, they just know their shit and do it well. What more do you want, people? Enough said. Feedster....much like Camper van Beethoven asked "Where, where the hell is Bill" I must ask, where the hell is Feedster....gone, daddy gone, as the Violent Femmes would have it. Topix.....pretty different. Didn't remember it opening up on pertinent Ytown info like it did. Kinda local immediacy to it now...hmmmm....how did it know? Very Rod Serling. Moving on...Technorati...scads of new stuff....including a million new blogs, however today it is moving to the blazing speed of a bloated tick, so we'll keep going. Syndic8...can't find it....not there! Generator Blog...well, duh...more generators....family crest, check it out.....cool stuff. LibraryThing....more languages, ability to review books early, and mobile cell phone stuff....yeah better and better! I'm on a roll here, and speaking of rolls, how about Rollyo...same stuff, it seems that a lot of people had issues with Rollyo, but I didn't have any problems, and that's pretty much how they left it! Delicious...still a stupid name: check, some things have changed, for one I have noticed that it is everywhere on the internet, linking people all over. Not very useful to me all around. Done, thing 46 in a nutshell!

Thing 45 Continued

Bubbl.us....more fun...just as useless for me! Enjoy!

Back To Work Thing #45

I Have Finally Caved

So I have caved. I have a MySpace account. I wanted to see what was going on in there. Here it is.....

Find me on MySpace and be my friend!

Send me your friend links so I can check out your pages! Elaine, I lost yours, so send it to me so I can link to you. Gotta check this crap out. Also send me any suggestions for pimping out my page.........

Although I am in a serious snit about someone snarking my evilibrarian name for the link. But the first time I set it up, the site screwed up, so I just may have screwed myself..............

So I am evilibrarian1....DAMMIT....

Who, Exactly, Do You Think You're Manipulating, Here?

So I have this angry, pissed off pinched nerve in my back. Physical therapy, not so helpful. Drugs, fun: check, recreational: check, helpful for pain: not so much. Everyone is yammering about going to see a chiropractor. I grew up in a family that consisted of a grandfather who was a MD, a mother who is a RN, and aunt who is an RN and my best friend's mother who is an RN. Not big fans of, as they like to call them "Witch Doctors". Not to mention the fact that someone twisting and cracking your neck and spine is a rather frightening prospect when you actually sit down and think about it. So I went, because I am tired of having my foot fall asleep while I am at my desk at work. Surprise, surprise, she's actually really cool. The radiographs of my spine were rather frightening, it turns out I am rather twisted (insert rude comment, or snort of laughter here). Yes, I realize that THAT was not a secret to anyone. I have now been cracked, and allegedly this will assist with my migraines. Jury is still out on that, we'll just have to see now won't we? Any opinions on chiropractors out there?

Envy Me

I am so cool. Why is this so, you might ask.....? Because I got to meet the editor-in-chief of none other than the Onion, and you, well, you did not. Yes, the king of sarcasm and satire himself signed his book You Are Worthless for me. Gotta love a guy who writes such gems as "You will die lonely." Heehee!

I also got to see Chris Crutcher at the YSU English Festival which was pretty damn cool too. And he signed a book for me too. Yes, I'm an autograph junkie, wanna make something of it? Great author, great speaker, and hey, what's not to like about a guy who gives kids $20 bills as bookmarks! Hell of a guy, Chris Crutcher........

Smurfing Idiots

After a well spent evening watching Adult Swim on Cartoon Network in Louisville last weekend, I have found the very best way to avoid using four letter words in any situation. Simply insert the word Smurf instead of the curse word. I shall use the following examples.

You are cut off in traffic....."Mothersmurfer!"

A co-worker angers you...."Smurf Off!"

You stub your toe...."Son of a Smurf!"

Just to start you off....so a hearty Smurf This to you all!

Initiation Rites

I am now no longer an outsider at the Main branch. I have been fully initiated by the ass-of-all-trades patron who is referred to only as Voldemort. Sent to me by none other than the Queen of Information Services, HRH Diane (who shall be properly repaid at a later point in the future), I received he-who-shall-not-be-named today raising his demand for more books on the subject of Arizona History. As fascinating and in demand is this topic is, it seems that we here at the library do not hold enough to tickle his fancy on the subject. So after the Information Services Department searched our Catalog, SearchOhio's Catalog, and most likely all available databases, he descended from on high to our humble little RS department to wax eloquent on the shambles that our institution has become. "I want to do an ILL search on this" he demanded! Well, let me tell you how often I have done an OCLC search in the City. Exactly never. Seeking guidance from none other than the esteemed Ms. H, I was advised "We need a title, author, SOMETHING, to search all of WorldCat for him". Seems reasonable to me.......yeah, you guessed it, not to Voldemort.....who continued to grumble and complain about incompetence the whole way out the door..............

well, I do aim to please....

I am now one with the Main branch..........

Not by the Hair of My Chinny Chin Chin!

Fitzroy the Border Terrorist demands to be let in! But no! I shall not let him, he'll huff and he'll puff, and he'll have to blow my door my door in! Or just get one of his big friends to knock it down........... Cute little thing...I think I'll go bite his head off.......

Vile Cur.....! Bill Gates and his Windows Vista Operating System..... My digital camera now refuses to work with my new operating system, thereby thwarting my efforts to add Fitzroy pictures to my blog. Now, I suppose I am forced to pay to have these pictures put on to a disc to upload them here. Since I know you are all just waiting with bated breath for the pictures of my cute little unkempt Border Terrorist to grace the pages of my blog................

My Daemon....Here's a Shocker!

The Golden Compass
Daemon Test

Curmudgeonly Soul
You scored -11 Extroversion, -17 Sensitivity,
and -7 Openness!
You are an independent, confident person. You march to the beat of your own drum, and if other people don't like it, they can go #$&* themselves. You don't really care what they think, or at least you THINK that you don't care. You believe that people should live and let live.

You are an introverted soul, disliking the crowds of morons and idiots that you find at big parties or clubs. You prefer to be on your own, or with a couple close friends. When you are forced to be social, you get tired quickly. You need to curl up with a good book or spend a night on the computer to recharge.

You have a strong sense of self, and it doesn't bother you much when people criticize you, especially strangers. You care more about what your family thinks, but probably not enough to change yourself for them. In any case, your loved ones know that under that gruff, aggressive exterior there is a caring friend. Your daemon's form would represent your confident, occasionally aggressive and solitary nature, but might betray your softer underbelly. He or she would probably help you make fun of the idiots around you, but would also provide the comfort and affection that you sometimes deny yourself in everyday life.

Form suggestions: Badger, Jackal, Black Bear.

WARNING!!

Be warned. Pictures of Fitzroy dressed as a Christmas reindeer, and in a Christmas scarf made by none other than Debbie McCullough herself are forthcoming. Well, that's enough shameless Border promotion for now. Just thought you should be aware!

Ahhhhh.....technology

Well, haven't been on the ol' blog for awhile. But in that time I discovered that I am not considered to be particularly technologically advanced. So I shall simply content myself to ranting on here about things I consider to be a bunch of crap! And of course, putting up pictures of my animals. However, to those who are considered to be so lofty and far above myself....I think that at least they should catch up and post the entirety of Library 2.0/2.1 as the rest of us untalented hacks have done. Enough for now.....

Thing #44....I think

So I found another thing....they are becoming rather elusive, these things, they are they are..... This one is called Jott. It seems to be cool sorta like an online reminder service where texts can be sent to your email or phone, or wherever you want them to be sent to ....your blog for example.....I drew the line at this one, however. I am NOT putting in my cell phone number for this, and you have to do that to register. I get enough telemarketers calling me at home regardless of being on the do-not-call registry, since non-profits, and politicians can get around that. The freakin' Neilsen ratings people called me three times in one week! Obnoxious people....I don't even watch tv....unless it's when I'm falling asleep in front of a M.A.S.H. rerun on TV Land. They don't even have the good sense to know that they don't want my opinion anyway. All I need is telemarketers calling my cell....that's all it will take to push me over the edge into a ....I mean...I am a well adjusted person, yes I am! Well, that's enough ranting...try Jott out if your a texting kinda person...which I am definitely not.....yeah...text this!

Eat My Z

Yep, that's what I wanted my plates to say, but the Ohio BMV has some absurd law about not having the word EAT on your license plate. C'mon, it's no different than eat my dust! Here she is, in all her glory, my favoritest car in the entire universe, that I have had since I was 17! Notice the restraint that she is showing in this picture from the Canfield Supernationals from many years ago. She has yet to puke on this mid 80's Camaro next to her that is clearly her mechanical, style, and intellectual inferior. Not to mention the owner of said vehicle, the shirtless wonder, with his wife beater tucked into his shorts, sporting what is no doubt a classic "Camaro mullet". Nice black out kit on the lights, and mini bra on the hood.....that sound you hear is me choking on my sarcasm. But enough of this mockery.....All Hail My '74 Z28....especially those of you who make fun of my other vehicle....you know who you are....but really, who are you kidding? You drive a grocery getter. I laugh at you! HAHAHAHA!
And yes, she came with a factory 8 Track, and wants to know if you have any Skynnyrd on ya....

Go Ahead.....Make His Day...

Yeah, go ahead........tick him off....he's just about to start molting. You know what that means? You betcha......PMS..........PreMoltingSyndrome. He'll eat your spleen! Yep, give him a big smooch...you know you want to.....

My Own Thing

So reading a library journal, of all things, you can come across some neato stuff. For instance, my very cool Flip video camera. One hour worth of video with a little view screen that is good for incompetent videographers such as myself. Not to mention a built in USB port so you just pop it into your computer, download it, or upload it to YouTube, or email it to friends and family. To make it library related, programs could be videoed and added to the website if so desired. All this for $125 smackers!

Strangely enough, most of the cool stuff that you find comes from School Library Journal. They had a cool techie website in there in the last edition that I got (probably from May) but anyway it is a site that links to the front page of like 40 other techie sites, very cool. It's http://www.fichey.com . They had a neat thing that I'm so going to figure out how to do. It pops up your thumbnail images so that you click on them, they expand, and then you click again, and they resume their previous thumbnail image size. It also squishes them sideways if you want. Just tricky, man!

Thing #43

So these Midi things are pretty cool. I played around with these the day before yesterday at home on my shiny new red laptop that I had to buy since the old desktop #$@% the bed on me last week! (Shiny red matching mousy appeared last night! Most Excellent!) (you have to do these things at home, you know, because of the aforementioned librarian love of porn which is why we're not allowed to download as much as an upgrade to Adobe to a work computer ourselves...but, I digress) Anyway.....You can make Mr. Rogers' "Won't you be my Neighbor?" sound like Satan is singing it...hahaha just funny funny stuff here. Don't see how I'll have much practical use for it, but I may play the adjusted version really loud for the Trick-or Treaters next year when the little beggars come around my house! If only I could have burned it for this year....! How cool is that? Like my house isn't scary enough.....

Thing #42

Usenet/GoogleGroups. Yes yes,....discussion groups. Who doesn't belong to a discussion group? I have the misfortune to belong to several. None, however, are generated through Google, but rather through Yahoo. Most of these you have to sign up for, give info on yourself, and wait to be accepted to. Then they send you either a barrage of single emails, or, if you're like myself, a digest, where as many as 25 postings are sent to you in a single email. As I mentioned above, I belong to several newslists. The Borzoi News List, which is hosted by Yahoo, and is always fun, since there are ALWAYS people who forget to respond to an individual, and respond the whole list that "Yes, I saw what Mary was wearing at the show in Philly last weekend, when she had that horrible bitch out...it is SUCH a house pet,....you know the one....the white with the brindle spot on the show side...yeah, THAT one, and her skirt was so tight, it made her butt look roughly the size of Texas". Then you get the inevitable next posting that says "Sorry, that was meant to go private" Oops, don't you look like quite the boob now! Then you get the sanctioning memo from the administrator of the list that such comments will not be tolerated and if it happens again, the perpetrator will be booted from the list! AHHHH, such shame and ignominity! Always entertaining, these newslists, and discussion groups! Join a few, have a laugh at someone else's expense, but beware! Know who you are responding to!!

Thing #41

Live Mocha. I liked it. The only disappointing thing was that I wanted to brush up on my Latin, and that is not an option at this time. I chose French instead. I'll probably keep up on this, as it's pretty cool. It is entertaining as well. The fact that they show a heavyset woman who is standing there and point at her and say "Je suis grosse" is just rude....how very French! hahaha! And they show a little girl pointing at her grandmother saying "you are old!" Just good stuff here! Try it out! What do you have to lose? It's free!

Thing #40

Retroland......hahaha.....groovy baby! Who remembers this? Intellivision. I wasn't allowed to have any video games, but my friend Kristen did. We played Pong and all those games from back in the day! Oh, yeah, In-freakin'-television! Blast from the past....screw Atari, we had the ghetto version!

I Should Get Paid to Complain

So I sent a nasty little email to Animoto about their major malfunction, and they fixed it right away! And they gave me a credit of a full length animation to boot! Yep, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and I can squeak with the best of them! I felt like bitchin'! But, hey, look who I work with,.....ahh....the student surpasses the teacher......

My Minions

Welcome to My Parlour

Thing #39

So this Animoto thing would be cool if they had a functional website. I tried to sign up around 14 times and it kept telling me that I was missing login parameters. To which I give a resounding "NUH-UH". They clearly are malfunctioning. I shall have to try this again, when they decide to have actual competent individuals running their site. I was getting so pissed off that I wanted to throw the computer, so I stopped at that point. I may deign to try their ineffectual little site later. Morons, I hate technology that doesn't work.

Thing #38

Thing #37

Pandora. Radio Station. Place a sample band you like, they build other songs/bands that are sim-u-lar. Same old same old. Tried to download LastFM here at work to try it, but surprise, surprise, got to have administrative clearance to do it. Apparently we librarians are inherently untrustworthy, and only want to look at porn all day! Gotta watch them librarians!!

But seriously, not bad, pretty cool alltogether!

Station is on the right....

The auto adjust is great, since it picks out what should be done, without your needing a great pool of knowledge to do it yourself. It's free too!!

Thing #35

Ahh....Twitter...and Jaiku. Good ideas for keeping in touch. I, however, don't feel the need to be touched that much. Don't really care to be touched at all really. I mean, I am, after all, the Evilibrarian. We, as a general rule, aren't that touchy feely. I firmly believe in personal space. I can't imagine the need to have people be able to contact me that readily.

But seriously, they seem cool and all for the college age and under crowd, who are constantly IMing, and planning for their evenings out. I find it entertaining that you can update it so that people can know your every move. You can even put up an I'll be driving icon on your account, just in case they want to reach you. Jaiku seems to make it easier to find people, but to become a member, you have to wait for an invitation.

I don't think that this is technology that I'll get much use out of, since I don't know many people that would be using it, and that is the key issue here. You can't send someone a Tweet if they're not Tweetin' with ya. Get hip, man!

Thing #34

Fit Day and Nutridiary are kinda cool options for those looking to watch their weight or keep up with an exercise regime, etc. Nutridiary offers a bit more for those who need others to keep them on track. I found one of these calorie counting sites that also tells you calories burned for certain activities. It was The Daily Plate, found it in a library journal of some sort many moons ago. I thought it was pretty cool. Check it out...www.thedailyplate.com

Thing #33

What can you say about Mr. Picassohead, the String Spin thing and the sand art? Not getting the point here. Mr. Picassohead was the favorite here....hopefully, I can successfully attach my wondrous work of art....The Pompous Frenchman...

Thing #32 Omnidrive

Many cool things about Omnidrive. Fooled around with this at home, just getting around to posting about it now. Nice feature to combine it with Zohowriter too. It is convenient in the same way as Plaxo in that it adds portability. No need to be tied to a single computer or laptop anymore! And it provides a backup spot for filing! No crash worrying anymore. I liked the photo editing feature as well. No need to purchase the additional editing tools like with Photoshop either...just PRESTO!....and zoom, it's done. Cool stuff, this online portable crap!

Where to Bury A Dog

Found those pictures of my Azrael the GSD and my Luthor the GSP, and felt they deserved a place on the ol' blog! They were good friends of mine....

Where To Bury A Dog
There are various places within which a dog may be buried. We are thinking now of a setter, whose coat was flame in the sunshine, and who, so far as we are aware, never entertained a mean or an unworthy thought. This setter is buried beneath a cherry tree, under four feet of garden loam, and at its proper season the cherry strews petals on the green lawn of his grave. Beneath a cherry tree, or an apple, or any flowering shrub of the garden, is an excellent place to bury a good dog. Beneath such trees, such shrubs, he slept in the drowsy summer, or gnawed at a flavorous bone, or lifted head to challenge some strange intruder. These are good places, in life or in death. Yet it is a small matter, and it touches sentiment more than anything else.

For if the dog be well remembered, if sometimes he leaps through your dreams actual as in life, eyes kindling, questing, asking, laughing, begging, it matters not at all where that dog sleeps at long and at last. On a hill where the wind is unrebuked and the trees are roaring, or beside a stream he knew in puppyhood, or somewhere in the flatness of a pasture land, where most exhilarating cattle graze. It is all one to the dog, and all one to you, and nothing is gained, and nothing lost -- if memory lives. But there is one best place to bury a dog. One place that is best of all.

If you bury him in this spot, the secret of which you must already have, he will come to you when you call -- come to you over the grim, dim frontiers of death, and down the well-remembered path, and to your side again. And though you call a dozen living dogs to heel they should not growl at him, nor resent his coming, for he is yours and he belongs there.

People may scoff at you, who see no lightest blade of grass bent by his footfall, who hear no whimper pitched too fine for mere audition, people who may never really have had a dog. Smile at them then, for you shall know something that is hidden from them, and which is well worth the knowing.

The one best place to bury a good dog is in the heart of his master.

Some Things Are Just Too Perfect For Words....

Before I finish entirely with Thing #32, and this blog just becomes entirely my own personal self aggrandizement of my animals....I simply must put in this breathtaking picture of Mr. Does No Wrong, Golden Boy, No. 1 Son.....Ch. Nickolai Tabret Rainier C.G.C. Delta Society Pet Partner.....a.k.a. Hamish the Therapy Dog that comes to the library....now a retired show dog that gets to only do whatever he wants to do.....like show in the Veterans Sweeps classes....and get stupid little prizes for it!! Really, no other dog could EVER look this handsome....and I own quite a few quite attractive other dogs....(yes, even the Terrorist pales in comparison...) their day shall come.....just later.....I must be off now to make sure he gets his bedtime snack of fruits and vegetables....he must keep fit and trim to keep the younger pups in line, and he IS aware of the importance of proper nutrition in the older dog....you didn't REALLY think he ate...gasp!....dog biscuits, did you? How terribly pedestrian of you.....I am appalled!

Plaxo Thing #31

Plaxo has some cool capabilities. Importing your Outlook Express info, like contacts and calendars is a cool way to carry important stuff with you wherever you have access to the Internet. A little concerning to have all of that info just flapping out there online however. But it could be a neato convenient way to have all of it on hand, rather than toting it around in a work bag or a laptop from place to place. Plus, you wouldn't ever forget someone's birthday, Valentine's day, anniversary....boss's day....you get my drift.....I had some problems with importing some things but that always seems to happen. Once you get past that initial set up crap it is pretty "spiffy" to use the recent hip terminology from Administration to describe our new "Special Delivery" logos here at the old library.....

Thing #29

Scrapblog was fun....cool way to organize photos and share them online. Fun for lazy people like me who have no craftiness about them, nor any interest in organizing their photos..... much less putting together an album with a bunch of cutesy little crap surrounding said photos.....
hell....let's face it, since the advent of digital cameras, how many of us actually develop pictures anymore? That being said...this is a clever way to share photos in a way that they may actually be seen!

Here is a pic of my boys and I. Hangin' at the Festival of the Arts this Summer. They're doin' their meet and greet with the masses. How could anyone not want to hang out with such handsome young men?! Smart, funny, handsome and talented, what's not to love?

Photobucket

Photobucket is pretty ok. Not too different than Flickr. Created my account and uploaded some photos. Added a little Samurai from their site to my Album. All in all an ok kinda place. Needed a little blogging to unwind from our fun little meeting yesterday. Yep, that's all you can say about that. Feeling the need for a little Samurai after that.....

My life just gets better and better.....

***Warning***

there may be more postings of my dogs coming soon....

Zamzar

OK....Zamzar is officially cool in my book. File conversion at your fingertips. JPEG to GIF in 15 minutes and no sweat from me required! Most excellent tool. I most sincerely approve! Now, on to #27 Photobucket!!

Widgets, widgets a beautiful thing

So imagine my surprise when I realized I had already put a widget on my blog! This is one of my favorite things! I already have placed my Samurai Jack widget on here to the right. Neato stuff, these widgets.....Still waiting on Zamzar....hopefully this will show up eventually...it sounds really cool, but only if it actually comes through.....here's hoping....

Ok, so I changed my mind.....I'm allowed......I'm a girl

So, I changed my mind on the whole Podcast issue issue. I found one that I liked, all about the Camaro, finest of hotrods. Most excellent, a fine podcast indeed. I also decided to go whole hog and just make my bloglines account public, I ain't skeered.....prepare to be appalled by my shoddy tastes and interests...... http://www.bloglines.com/public/WednesdayAddams Now about Thing #24....having some Zamzar issues with the linking not working, so we'll be coming back to that one....#25 was a lot of fun, here is my link, just hope no one of any importance at this place ever sees it.......but just in case.....Just funnin' you.....laugh at yourself once in a while, it's good for you......http://letterpop.com/newsletters/?id=57345-43e91f

On to #26.......

Finnian

Here is the video that I warned you I would post of my dog earning his coursing title. Yep, listen up to the commentary by fine videographer, who clearly forgot the mike was on! Golden Retriever indeed! Could we BE more insulting?! And yes, my behind is overwhelmingly large, but there was no way for me not to be in the video.....

Thing #23

Ok, so I have now completed the first part of my assignment.
23 Things: check
Get my MP3: check
But, I intend to do the Library 2.1 thing because thanks to you people, I am now addicted to blogging. I do hope that you are proud of yourselves, you know who you are. Plus, now that Trevor has fixed my recently crashed home computer, I can now post my dog competing at Canfield and bore all of you non-dog people to tears.
So to sum up
Library 2.1: TBA
Things I liked and found useful about 2.0:
Flickr, Flickr and more Flickr, image generators, bloglines, LibraryThing, wikis and Youtube
Things I liked but didn't find overly useful about 2.0:
Podcasts, social bookmarking, Technorati and its' associates, Rollyo
Things I didn't like about 2.0
NetLibrary.
I learned quite a bit during this little excercise, and enjoyed doing it. I hate admiting to liking assignments, it just goes against my innate slackerness. I find that disturbing. And more disturbing is the fact that I am continuing this without any further incentives. Ack! Where will it end?!
Stay tuned.....and be careful out there....

Thing #22

Ok, so this NetLibrary thing seems to be totally useless to me. Maybe I'm doing it totally wrong, but when I looked in our catalog, I found a title that I was interested in. Then I searched for it several different ways in NetLibrary and it kept saying it wasn't there. And when I searched by title, it brought up everything with the word in it, even in the description. This is not keyword searching people! Plus, if I can search for it through our website, why do I need to search in NetLibrary, if it only gives me my affiliated library as a search option. Seems like a useless piece of crap to me, but what do I know! I'm probably doing it wrong. Any suggestions, comments, or advice, let me know, and I shall place it in the appropriate file....and perhaps revise my opinion...or not...

Thing #21 Podcasts

Pod(yawn)casts......sleep inducing.....tried to attach one to my blog. Since you don't see it here, clearly it was unsuccessful. Didn't find these too inspiring. I did find one on the Monks of New Skete which was a video of German Shepherd Dogs acting normally. Nice to see. Attached a podcast to my Bloglines account. Just wait until my home computer is fixed, then you will all see a cool podcast of my very own dog completing his JC title last weekend. Prepare yourselves to be impressed.....

Vampire Hunter D (Thing #20)

little Vampire Hunter D for you all! Anime and Vampires are fun! Youtube is cool, but I soo did this 100 years ago when I posted my zombie video! Thanks to the cool person who put this on Youtube and let people share it unlike the total loser whose video I tried to put up first, whose link said "I am a dork and you must go to MY YOUTUBE account to view my anime video that I already took from the people who created Vampire Hunter D" as if he was the one who drew it and put this stuff together in the first place. But, hey, props to this guy who set it up to the Godsmack music anyway, nice work, kudos to you, whoever you are!! Yes Karen, it may be a little scary for you....so don't look, you've been warned!

Thing #19

Ok, so I had to check out Zillow. Just cool, you can find out aerial views of your house. Fun to play with. Not so cool that not all areas are covered, could be frustrating to some users. Could be useful to library patrons, realtors, and home buyers alike. And really, who doesn't like to snoop?
p.s. it has been noted that I should add the link so that others can look at these sites...so it is on the link list on the right side of the blog for your kind....you know who you are.....

Thing #18 Zoho writer

Hello, hello,

Is this thing on? This is my sample page....

Yep, you're just dying to know what the wiki is aren't you? Well.......ok, here is the site....no, not here you fools, to your right....... Keep in mind, it's a toy in progress......enjoy.....

Thing #16

Back to the important Thing postings....Wikis you say? Pretty neato things, these Wikis. I like 'em... I may want one of my very own....I shall hug him, and pet him and name him George.... oh, wait a minute,....Wikis....sorry, my adult ADD just kicked in....the subject guide thingy is ok, and the ALA thing was cool, but the Book Review thing was really neat, especially how they tied it into their adult summer reading....very cool....but enough of this blathering...on to #17!

Thing #15

Reading, reading, reading.....did all of my reading for Thing #15! Interesting articles. I think that these blogs are a great way to train all library employees in the new software/etc emerging today, but the library needs to go back to offering training to the public. Working here in the City Unit, (which we love....remember...It's good in the hood!) I can attest to the fact that rarely a day goes by without one of our staff being asked when the computer classes will be starting up again, to which we stumble and stammer out something to the effect of...."Um, uh....we haven't been....uh,.....notified yet...but...um....we'll let you know...uh....as soon as we ....uh, find out something...." Lookin' stupid here guys..... ! Maybe it's just us down here in the city...but I doubt it...

Thing #14

Claimed my Blog on Technorati....Inconceivable that no one has wanted such a desirable name as Evilibrarian.....did the Library 2.0 search thing...vastly differing results....nothing surprising on the popular lists...who wouldn't expect to see such vain trivialities as Paris Hilton, Boing Boing, Youtube, Facebook and Myspace eating up the top spots? Hardly ground breaking news here.....

Moving Right Along #13

So, this social bookmarking thing of which you speak....kinda cool....not the most needful thing I have ever used, but has potential....Useful, but I could live without it. Made one up...linked it to my blog...take a look at 'er....there she is....'nuff said....

Check out the End of this Page

Scroll down to the end of the page for a special little Zombie treat!! Cool stuff you can do with your blog!! Most excellent! Something strange is definitely afoot at the Circle K.....

Thing #12

Yep, here is thing 12. Rollyo. Had some fun with this. Decided to do a search tool on demons, vampires, werewolves and zombies. All of my undead favorites. Added the appropriate search box and link to my blog and presto, there it is! All in a days work. Yep, the whole world domination thing is moving along nicely. Next, I take over Greenland.....

Thing #11

Checked out LibraryThing. Pretty cool stuff. Added random books over on the right hand side of the ol' blog....check 'em out.....neato....

Oops....Missed #9

Ok...so I missed doing #9.....or rather....missed writing a post about it. I played around with the various nefarious search tools, Feedster, Topix, Syndic8, and Technorati. I liked the whole breakdown thing that Feedster does with the Blogs/Feeds/Podcasts etc, but I also liked Technorati, just 'cause it's cooler...however, (note to self, be more specific, when I searched horror flicks, it brought up a gore site, but it was Al Gore....not quite what I had in mind, although possibly a horror to some...)

So Cute You Could Bite His Head Off (Thing #10)

So Cute You Could Bite His Head Off
Originally uploaded by fitzroy74

Even at such a young age he is already concerned about the situation in Iraq, the plight of the homeless, and the hole in the Ozone. I think he very much needs to be hugged (or to have his head bitten off!) The whole litter is equally socially aware, as they all seem to share the same overly concerned visage. The only bad part is that one day he will grow up into a Black and Tan Coonhound! Yes, I know exactly who I am offending, but "I dun all I can..." I figure I have leverage as long as there is a Chrysler 300 marooned in my driveway. BTW, if anyone needs any spare Chrysler parts, I'm taking offers......

Bloglines (Thing #8)

Ahh....at last.....I figured out how to attach the evil Bloglines technology....now I can receive the ever important Onion newsletter, along with pertinent comics like Get Fuzzy and Unshelved. Entertaining is this technology as Yoda would say......

I sooo like this technology......and I stole the trading card thing from Louisa's grandpuppy trading card thingy. This blogging thing has possibilities, and is quite entertaining......technology is fun......but it has its limitations (it will never replace a great dog or cat) and yes, this is my dog.....the very best dog ever....yep...I rock.....

#3 of 23 things

Here is my 2nd post to completely complete my 3rd task....

I shall start this blog to begin my ultimate goal of complete world domination.....starting with earning my MP3 player.....now back to work as a humble librarian

M

7 1/2 habits

Adding a post to complete #3 of my 23 things. ( Things #1 and #2 were reading and therefore easily accomplished by a librarian such as myself)

Easiest of the 7 1/2 habits...
#2..... since my own curiosity generally gets the better of me....

Hardest of the 7 1/2 habits
#7......., not being known for extensive patience....
